zPride Zynga Employee Resource Group Spotlight 2024

In recognition of Pride Month, we wanted to share more information about the NaturalMotion zPride Employee Resource Group. zPride aims to create an affirmative space that encourages employees to bring their authentic selves into the workplace by providing opportunities to socialise, participate in community outreach, and contribute to efforts that make Zynga, the gaming industry, and our communities a better place for all.

What is Pride?

Pride is a celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ and allies coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBTQIA2S+ rights have come, and how there is still so much more work to be done.

Pride month is celebrated in June to remember the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, NY.  The uprising occurred in response to a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar and now a US National historic Landmark.  Every year since 1969, cities around the world have hosted Pride parades to mark the anniversary.  

Pride is about acceptance, equality, celebrating the work of LGBTQIA2S+ people, education in LGBTQIA2S+ history and raising awareness of issues affecting the queer community.  It also calls for people to remember how damaging homophobia was and still can be.

Pride is all about being proud of who you are no matter who you love.

Pride At Zynga (zPride)

At zPride we aim to:

🫂 Create Community

  • Provide a supportive and affirming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ employees through social events, communication spaces, and milestone holidays.
  • Encourage allyship and strengthen the support of straight allies.
  • Empower a community whose collective voice fosters an inclusive company culture.
  • Create and distribute Swag to show our pride.

🚀 Drive Action & Change  

  • Encourage positive impact in our company & strategic direction of our products.
  • Participate in the Corporate Equality Index, and improve on areas of that Rating Criteria by evaluating Zynga’s policies.
  • Identify opportunities for our business to engage LGBTQ consumers.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition team to recruit LGBTQ employees.
  • Provide a platform for LGBTQ+ employees to have a collective voice to share their concerns and needs.

🧠 Learning & Development

  • Cultivate a culture of learning and perspective.
  • Facilitate discussions and workshops to educate our community on LGBTQ+ topics.
  • Plan speaker series to highlight individuals’ experiences, empower the community, and provide tangible takeaways for attendees with measurable impact.

🤝🏿 Community Outreach & Partnerships

  • Allocate a budget for contributions to organisations supporting diversity and inclusion.
  • Seek partnerships with local non-profits to impact our communities.
  • Encourage and develop business-to-business partnerships with other external ERGs to share best practices.
  • Represent our organisation at events and signal-boost our LGBTQ+ work on external platforms

Celebrating Pride month 2024

zPride has exciting events planned for the 2024 Pride month.  We host multiple global pride events as well as events local to specific studio locations. Here’s a look at what to expect

    • Understanding Pride Month a fun and interactive lecture-style setting, discover fascinating and little-known facts about LGBTQIA2S+ history.
  • Drag Bingo and Pride Happy hour 
    • Soundtrack of your Life- We invite LGBTQIA2S+ & Allies to share a song that encapsulates a joyful moment in their lives for a Pride Radio Show that employees can tune into
  • Drag Quiz and networking Event – LGBTQIA2S trivia and time to mingle with co-workers from all of our studios/labels
